About
The story behind KINOH
The Name
KINOH is inspired by family — by the deep, quiet bonds that form when people share meaningful spaces together. The name carries the idea of growth, connection, and the belief that the places we inhabit shape the way we live. It began with our two sons, Kiyan and Noah.We brought parts of their names together — KI from Kiyan and NOH from Noah — and KINOH emerged. It felt immediately personal: a name rooted in our family for a place that was, first and foremost, being created as our home. We also came across a Japanese-inspired interpretation of KINOH as a “bright, wandering soul.” It felt strangely fitting — an idea of movement, discovery and eventually finding a place where you belong. The roots in the KINOH logo carry another, even more personal meaning.Nuraan is Cape Malay, with family roots that trace back to Indonesia. Centuries ago, her ancestors were taken from this part of the world to the Cape. Generations later, creating our family home in Indonesia has therefore felt, in a small but meaningful way, like a return to those roots — a journey back towards home. The roots represent that connection: to family, to ancestry and to place. But they also represent what we are creating here now — putting down new roots, watching our children grow, and building something that we hope will carry its own stories for years to come. For us, KINOH is ultimately about both roots and journeys — where we come from, where life takes us, and the places that come to feel like home.
The Philosophy
For us, luxury is less about excess and more about how a place makes you feel.Space. Natural light. Privacy. Good materials. A comfortable bed. A quiet morning. A beautiful sunset. Details that feel considered without asking for attention.KINOH is designed around those simple pleasures — contemporary, but relaxed; refined, but never formal.
The Place
Balangan is still one of Bali's best-kept secrets — a stretch of coast where the pace is slow, the sunsets are extraordinary, and the community is small enough to feel personal. We were drawn here by exactly that balance: close enough to everything, but quiet enough to slow down.We hope KINOH feels less like somewhere you simply stay, and more like somewhere you can settle into for a while.
The Design
The architecture blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, with open spaces, greenery and natural materials throughout.Corten steel, timber, stone, concrete and brass were chosen not simply for how they look when new, but for how they change with time. Each loft has its own identity, while sharing the same design language as the main house

The Complex
Three homes, one sanctuary — seen from above after dark.
Design
Architecture that responds to its landscape — honest materials, clean lines, and spaces that breathe.
Connection
Built for gathering. For morning coffees shared on the terrace. For families, friends, and slow conversations.
Nature
Every window frames green. Every path leads to water. The garden is as important as the building.
